Junior House Athletics

On 24 November 2011, our school had Junior School House Athletics. The 3 Junior school houses competed fiercely against each other for the JS House Aths cup. There were 4 year levels from Grade 3-6. I competed in the 100m race and tunnel ball. My house was Reid, we came 2nd. Bedgood won again for the 11th time in a row.

Year 6 Exhibition

In Term 4 2011, all the year 6s prepared a memorable celebration of our PYP journey throughout the years- some from Prep, others only in Year 6(like me).
Our disciplinary theme was 'How We Express Ourselves'- and we chose our topic to be about the brain and how it works.
On 22 November 2011, the day had come for us to display our exhibition for everyone to see. Our family and friends were invited to come and visit our exhibition that we had put in so much effort into. Mummy and Daddy came, as well as my close friend Sharon, her siblings and her parents. I secretly thought that they REALLY enjoyed our exhibition...hahaha

I was in a group with Sophie, Mia and Chloe. They were good people to work with because I didn't know them very well. The question we investigated was 'How does the brain determine our preferred learning style?' I researched on Kinesthetic Learning. I made a magazine about kinesthetic learning and visual cards about how kinesthetic learners learn. Our group also designed 2 quizzes: one to find out your preferred learning style and another one that Chloe designed. The learning style quiz was very popular; I printed about 100 and there were only about 15 left at the end of the day. I also made business cards for each learning style for people to take to remind them which learning style they use, and also to help enhance their learning.
Each group had feedback cards for vistors to write their comments on- we had none left at the end of the day, and I took the comment cards home to read them. All the comments were very pleasing, and everyone LOVED the quiz (such as Sharon)! Obviously we had done a fantastic job with our exhibit!

Our year level also prepared a Drama performance and a Music performance with the guidance of Dr. Buchanan (Drama teacher) and Ms. Robinson (Music teacher). I did an act with Millie, Doonas, Crystal and Tabitha about discrimination for drama. I also did freeze frames for drama. I played the violin in our Music performance.
I also did an unrealistic painting of a campsite on canvas for Art, and a poster about Christmas all in French.

At the beginning of this topic, I thought that I was a definite visual learner but I was surprised to find out that I am more a kinesthetic learner than visual or auditory!

The Exhibition was very successful! The hall was never quiet as our family and friends walked around looking at our exhibit and learning about new things.
