Lake Mountain, here we come!!!

On the 13th July, my friend Sharon and her family, Mummy, Daddy and I drove up to Lake Mountain to see the snow this year. I was overly excited as I had not been up to the alpines for the past 2 years. We drove up at 6am in the morning, I was exhausted but at the same time was very happy to be able to go to the snow this year. We had a break at Marysville, which was about 20 minutes away from Lake Mountain, because Sharon's family had to hire some snow gear and Mummy, Daddy and I all had to hire snow boots. We also hired a toboggan.

We finally arrived at our destination after a long trip of winding roads in the forest. I came out of the car and was jumping around despite the freezing cold weather up in the mountain.

Daddy, Mummy and I went tobogganing first. I felt totally new to it although I had already tobogganed before. Finally, it was 10:30 am. Mummy had booked a first-timers’ experience for the 3 of us. It included snowshoeing, skiing and a snowmobile ride. We first went to get our equipment and fitted our snowshoes. They were huge shoes for walking in the snow. We then went on a trail for snowshoeing in the forest. I thought it was fun and it was different from normal walking.

After snowshoeing, we went skiing, which was surprisingly the best part of the package. We learnt the correct posture for skiing and how to brake. We also learnt how to get up onto our feet after a fall. I fell down many times on the skis but I thought it was a great experience. Mummy and Daddy fell a few times too! It was quite funny because once I fell down, got up and fell down immediately after I stood up. I still liked skiing after the lesson despite falling down so many times. Mummy and Daddy went on the snowmobile ride and said that it was fast and dangerous so I decided not to have a try.

We then had lunch with Sharon’s family at the Bistro. We ate noodles and also some lamington bites (YUM!!!). From our package we had a complimentary hot drink, so I chose to have hot chocolate. It was one of the best hot chocolates that I have ever tasted!

Sharon, Mummy, Daddy and I went tobogganing again. Daddy and I were going down the toboggan trail together and I stopped at an upslope and Daddy came in my direction. He crashed into me and I got a fright! It was hilarious! I was laughing the whole way up when we were going to the top of the trail.

It was 3:30pm and sadly, it was time to leave the mountain as we had to make our way back home before it became too dark to drive. I was reluctant to leave but it was also important to get home before sunset. We were in the car and getting ready to leave the car park when real snow fell onto the mountain and it covered the car’s windscreen. Mummy drove the car while Daddy and I had some potato chips at the back of the car. We made our way back home and were tired but I am sure all of us had a enjoyable time in the snow!
