First Violin Solo at BNPS Spring Soiree 29th Oct 2008

Last week, Reii came back from school announcing she had asked for a spot to perform a violin solo "Lightly Row". Just half a minute, she had asked of Mr M, their music teacher who was putting the school's Spring Soiree together. It was a big surprise to all of us as she had only recently started violin lessons and that piece was the only learnt after the inaugural Twinkle Stars.
To play solo? In front of a crowd? My, that's confidence!

So came the night, where many talents were showcased in the packed school hall. Reii was part of the choir and they sang "Hymn to Freedom" and "Best Gift of All". She looked confident when she strode up the stage and readied herself. There was a slight hitch as she played into the song but she continued and was not the least swayed by the little hiccup and completed the song beautifully. This was her moment.

Enjoy the pictures and video...& the "extended" version of her "Lightly Row".
Bravo Reii!Bravo!!

My Year 3 Camp at Sunnystones 14th - 15th Oct 2008

I am just back from my camp at Sunnystones which is about 45 minutes bus ride away from my school. We went there yesterday morning in a huge luxurious bus. I was seated in the second row of the bus because I had ticked off Travel Sickness in the questionaire. It was good that I was siting up front.

When we reached the destination, we were introduced to the owners Sharon and Liane. We started our bush walk in the state park.We saw many trees, just trees and took a long time to walk to the lodge. I was very tired after that long walk.

After a rest, we went to other areas to do Rope Courses. Some were easy while some were difficult. The best was when I did the activity in a triangle. The most difficult was when I had to hold on to a rope to swing to the other side. I was abit frightened. The owner helped me to swing across to the other end.

We were finally shown to our cabins. There are a total 7 girls in my bunkroom and overall we have 31 year 3s in this second group. My bunkbed is near the toilet and door.We then showered. After the shower, we had dinner and the girls had to pair up with a boy. Our dinner contained 5 nuggets, some chips and a salad containing 1 slice of cucumber, 1 tomato,2 celery,1 piece of carrot and a big piece of cabbage.

After dinner,we had ice-cream then we went into the forest. While walking to the forest we saw about 20 roos hopping around. We were in the forest finding the possum (like a big cat type of animal) in the darkness. While waiting for the possum to come out, we were finding fairy stones (which means that if you take 2 to rub together, the stones will glow in the dark). Finally,we found the possum.

After that, we went back to change into our pyjamas and be ready for supper. Our supper was hot choc. with 2 biscuits. Finally, it was bedtime at 10:00pm. I did not have a good night sleep and I slept at 3:00am because the teachers were talking loudly.

We had to wake up at 7:00am. Our breakfast is a choice of anything - I ate coco pops and toasted bread and once again, the girls had to pair up with a boy. Then, we went to the forest to make a hut out of sticks and stones. After building it, we had billy tea and a piece of cake called damper.

Soon, we had had to pack and say bye. I was chosen out of the 31 children to say thank you to the owners. I had ham and cheese bun for lunch. I enjoyed myself alot.
